Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney split rumors: Singer announces she's 'taking a break' with fiancé
Amid rumors that pop superstar Lady Gaga and her "Chicago Fire" actor fiancé Taylor Kinney have broken up, the singer/songwriter recently took to social media to clarify the issue.
On Tuesday, July 19, a representative for Lady Gaga told The Associated Press that the singer and Kinney are only "taking a break."
Gaga later confirmed the news through an Instagram post. On Wednesday morning, the Grammy winner posted a photo of her and Kinney walking with their arms around each other's shoulders. With it, she included an explanation and a request for her fans and followers.
"Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates," the singer wrote. "Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
Previous reports have claimed that while Gaga and Kinney were very much in love, the couple's long distance relationship and work schedules had taken their toll on the relationship.
Gaga is currently busy working on her next studio album. Her last major album, "Cheek to Cheek," was a collaborative jazz album with legendary singer Tony Bennett. "Cheek to Cheek" became her third consecutive number one album in the US.
The singer has also been kept occupied by her acting work in recent years. This year, she won a Golden Globe for her work on "American Horror Story: Hotel."
Kinney, an actor and model, has been in "Chicago Fire" since 2012 and had a recurring role in the second and third seasons of "The Vampire Diaries." He was also in "Zero Dark Thirty" (2012).
The two were engaged on Valentine's Day 2015 after dating for four years. They met on the set of Gaga's "You & I" video in 2011.
