'Law and Order: SVU' season 18 spoilers, plot news: VP Joe Biden making appearance
"Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" season 18 is once again going big in the guest department. United States Vice President Joe Biden will be on the show for the new season.
As per Entertainment Tonight, Biden will appear on the second episode as himself to commend the efforts of Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her team for dealing with the backlog of untested rape kits.
Biden's appearance on "Law and Order: SVU" season 18 will be a way for him to put across the message about the effects of this real-life issue, which Hargitay has openly spoken about as well.
This will be the second television show appearance of Biden in recent years. The first one was in "Parks and Recreation" where Amy Poehler's character Leslie Knope was revealed to have a crush on him.
Ice-T, who stars in "Law and Order: SVU" as Fin shared a photo of Biden and Hargitay on camera both beaming. The former stood behind a podium while the latter next to him, her face red.
"Law and Order: SVU" is known for bringing popular public figures and big stars to the show. Over the course of the series, there has been a multitude of guest stars coming and going the long-running show.
To name a few, there is the late Robin Williams, Lou Diamond Phillips, John Stamos, Mike Tyson and Serena Williams. Biden is the latest entry in this list that is likely to get longer as "Law and Order: SVU" goes on.
Apart from the vice president stopping by, there is not much known about "Law and Order: SVU" season 18 plot-wise although the characters are expected to mourn the death of Dodds (Andy Karl) especially his dad William (Peter Gallagher) and Benson.
Fin will also be dealing with a rape case whose suspect is the same man he arrested way back.
"Law and Order: SVU" season 18 will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 21 on NBC.
