Leap Motion unveils Mobile Platform with a sensor system capable of capturing wider views
In this age where virtual reality (VR) becomes a norm in entertainment, many tech companies are venturing to this kind of platform to be on a par with the latest technology. Among the companies is Leap Motion, who just unveiled its mobile platform.
The VR feature has been out at a rapid pace, and Leap Motion makes sure that it is keeping up with the trends. With the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive being a hit among gamers, the company reached out to the mobile world by introducing its Leap Motion Mobil Platform.
Leap Motion is currently putting all efforts to develop a method that will no longer require physical controllers, which is common among VR devices. Particularly, a hand tracking technology has been in the works for quite some time to give virtual reality a higher notch.
When this is accomplished, users of Leap Motion Mobil Platform will no longer have to hold on to anything so experience a VR output. The Leap Motion Mobil Platform is installed with two mini cameras, which is located in a face plate, to detect the motion of the finger, therefore integrating the sensors into a lower-powered experience.
Aside from being created for the mobile platform, the Leap Motion Mobil Platform has a sensor system capable of giving out a wider view, specifically at 180 by 108 degrees. This is different from its older model, where the sensor can only reach up to 120 degrees.
As for the headset faceplate, the company made sure that it is angled slightly downward so that it is rightly positioned just below the user's head. It could be recalled that Leap Motion has gathered criticisms from their older model due to the apparent disorienting issues.
Leap Motion Mobil Platform has yet to be given a release date, but its hype is already high. Company CEO Michael Buckwald said, "There will be announcements soon from partners."
