'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' release date, news: Wii U and Nintendo Switch difference, 'seamless' world detailed
Nintendo has detailed the difference of the Nintendo Switch version of "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" from its Wii U counterpart, which will both be released this March.
In an interview with IGN, "Legend of Zelda" producer Eiji Aonuma revealed that the version in the next-generation will be better in terms of load times and resolution.
"I think I mentioned this during E3, but the gameplay is completely the same experience on Wii U and the Nintendo Switch. The game controls for the two are pretty much identical. However, when you play in TV mode, the resolution of the screen and the sound quality go up," Aonuma explained.
"When I said earlier that the gameplay and game experience is the same, I meant the framerate is the same as well," he went on to say of the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" in both platforms.
Aonuma also noted that "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will have faster loading times on the Nintendo Switch than the Wii U, thanks to the use of cards instead of discs.
Shigeru Miyamoto, the man behind "Legend of Zelda," also teased a bit more about "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" during the interview, saying that the game's world will be "seamless."
"There's a lot of processing when [the game] needs to recreate the landscape, so that's a little bit of challenge. But while you're playing it there's no difference whatsoever between the [Switch and Wii U versions]," he explained.
While the Nintendo Switch version of "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" has its advantage, it is important to note that it will take up a lot of space.
The digital version will be 13.2 GB, which is almost half of the 32 GB native memory of the Nintendo Switch. Players can however always opt to expand the memory with microSDHC and microSDXC cards.
Players who are looking to purchase the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" in game card form as its physical edition should have no problem though.
"Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be released on March 3 along with the Nintendo Switch.
