An Open World gameplay with lots of spectacular cutscenes awaits fans of the upcoming "Legend of Zelda" game wii U Edition, which was one of the highlights during the last Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 2014).

A similar action-adventure Nintendo game, "Hyrule Warriors," was launched last Sept. 26 and received rave reviews from fans.

Game director and producer Eiji Aonuma said he is hopeful that the all-new "Legend of Zelda" will bring the same, if not higher, level of excitement to the gaming community.

The game set for release sometime next year will be the 18th edition of the popular "The Legend of Zelda" series. Nintendo has provided impressive gameplay trailer and images during the Nintendo Direct presentations.

To further whet the appetite of fans, Aonuma provided some clues on the upcoming game. Talking to the Movie Pilot, Aonuma said the new Zelda game will allow players more freedom in moving around and deciding which directions they want to go.

Allowing players more freedom in movement "is something we've wanted to do for a long time in The Legend of Zelda series, and so development began with this as our focus," the genius behind the mega hit franchise said.

In the earlier releases of The Legend of Zelda games, players are only able to explore a wide area by scrolling up, down, left and right.

"However, after the game transitioned to 3D and the hardware began to evolve, it became harder to create that feel of being in a vast world," Aonuma said.

In the new Zelda game, players can "randomly roam along the countryside" and come across "randomized activities."

Explaining further, Aonuma said, "As far as what you can do with such a vast field to explore, as soon as those boundaries are removed, it means you can enter any area from any direction."

"So the puzzle solving in this game begins the moment the player starts to think about where they want to go, how they want to get there, and what they will do when they arrive. This is a clean break from the conventions of past games in the Zelda series, where you had to follow a set path and play through the scenario in the right order," he added.

Gamers will find a variety of villains in the "Legend of Zelda." Each of them have unique capabilities. They include Ganon, Ghirahim, Zant; heck, and Agahnim.

Vaati, a forgotten character in previous Zelda games, will appear in the new version of the game, according to sources.

Aonuma said the latest Zelda edition will offer thrills and challenges different from other similar games. "Since we're talking about open worlds, let's state upfront that we don't plan to have an open world in the same way other companies have been doing in recent years," he told Edge Magazine.

In another interview published in the Ecumenical News, Aonuma said the "Zelda world is usually a big adventure, and it's about many experiences."

"One of the things that I think is required by a Zelda game is, for example, the loading scenes, which we kept -- like the first scene where you come upon a treasure box and you have Link, or whoever, lifting the item up from the treasure box," he said.

"But we realized we needed more than just that, so we ended up adding more and more aspects that were Zelda-esque including sound effects and animations that people are familiar with from the franchise," he added.

Other Nintendo titles slated for release in the first half of 2015 include "Splatoon," "Yoshi's Woolly World," "Mario Maker," and "Project Giant." They will be followed later in the year by "Kirby and the Rainbow Curse," "Project Guard," "Star Fox," and "Xenoblade Chronicles X."
