'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 release date, plot spoilers: 'Epic battle' in the offing for Legends team and Justice Society of America?
The latest spoilers for "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 seem to hint that the Legends team won't immediately hit it off with the members of the Justice Society of America (JSA) when their paths cross in the upcoming installment.
Fans would recall that Rex Tyler/Hourman (Patrick J. Adams) of the JSA gave the Waveriders fair warning at the end of the season 1 finale. However, Comic Book Resources said the two groups wouldn't be on the same page in the get-go, as confirmed by executive producer Marc Guggenheim.
"It's all going to kick off with an epic battle between the Justice Society and the Legends," Guggenheim said at the San Diego Comic-Con last week. "It's required that every time there's more than one superhero in any place at any given time, they have to fight. We're honoring that rule and that tradition straight out of the gate."
Aside from Rex, other JSA members whom fans would see in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 include Stargirl, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Obsidian. The production team is still looking for actors to cast for the said roles. John Wesley Shipp, who appears in "The Flash" as Jay Garrick, is apparently a member of the JSA, too.
According to Design and Trend, the Waveriders and JSA would eventually become allies going up against season 2's big bad, the Legion of Doom. The bad guys rounding up the group include Captain Cold/Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), Reverse-Flash/Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher), and Malcolm Merlyn/The Dark Archer (John Barrowman).
Meanwhile, co-executive producer Phil Klemmer told Variety that "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 would be much different from its maiden season.
"It's going to be much more serious," Klemmer said, emphasizing the difference between the two installments. "Season 2 is predicated much more on mysteries. Instead of one bad guy, they're responsible for facing multiple villains."
In the same interview, Guggenheim teased that Ciara Renée and Falk Hentschel could be back to reprise their roles as Hawkgirl and Hawkman, respectively. It appears he has been exchanging email correspondence with the two actors.
"We haven't finished telling the story of the hawks yet," Guggenheim said. "With the right timing and the right story, we'd love to see more of Kendra and Carter."
"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
