'Legends of Tomorrow' season 2 spoilers: legends to save Rip Hunter
Rip Hunter's (Arthur Darvill) life continues to be in danger under the hands of the Legion of Doom based on the latest trailer of "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2.
When fans of the series last saw Rip during the season 2 premiere, the legendary member of the Time Masters mysteriously disappeared and left the Legends a short message to let them know that he is very proud of them and he is leaving the mission of protecting the timeline at their hands.
Rip reappeared in the midseason finale titled "The Chicago Way." But he was no longer the compassionate but tough timeline protector that he was known for. Upon his return, viewers found out that he was stuck in 1967 working as a movie director in Los Angeles.
In the action-packed sneak peek for the second half of the season, the former Time Master can be seen in the middle of a dark basement pleading for his captors to let him go.
Yet it seems like the fully-formed superpower of the Legion of Doom, composed of Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher), has no intentions of releasing him without a fight. That is why the Legends, headed by Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz), will have to go everything to rescue him.
The trailer for the second half of "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 also revealed that the Legends will have to revisit the Revolutionary War era, based on a portion of the video showing men in the Red Coat uniform.
It also teased that Dr. Nathan Haywood (Nick Zano) and Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) will continue with their complicated relationship at the second half of the season.
DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" will open the next installments of season 2 with the episode titled "Raiders of the Lost Art." It will air on The CW on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017.
