Leica M10 price, specs, latest news: $6,595 price tag comes with premium features for the professionals
Leica gained a reputation of coming out with quality cameras for enthusiasts and professionals. Their most recent device is the Leica M10, a 24-megapixel (MP) shooter that follows the popular Leica M.
Similar to the other models, the Leica M10 does not come cheap as one needs a $6,595 investment for the body alone (without the lens). This means, users would need to shell out more money for the lens, which necessitates another investment of $3,000 — a total cost of about $10,000.
The expensive price, however, comes with premium features. Leica has always been keen on making its products precise and so the Leica M10 promises accuracy for taking photos. The only thing that is noticeable is that the camera is not capable of shooting videos. And since the device still retains the classic rangefinder features, no autofocus features will be seen.
Future owners may likely learn more about taking pictures manually. Therefore, they need to peep through the optical hole, set the camera according to what is available in the environment and start taking pictures. This may be a bit challenging for modern picture-taking enthusiasts, but an interesting find for the professionals.
The effort exerted when using the Leica M10 should be worth it as the image quality remains outstanding. It is said to make portraits, and even street scenes, excellent.
And since the Leica M10 is a better version of the Leica M, there are added specs that professionals will appreciate, such as the ISO dial situated at the top of the device. The shutter-speed dial, however, remains the same so users can still adjust the shutter, ISO, aperture cameras even when the device is turned off.
As for the design, the Leica M10 maintains the classic appearance of boasting magnesium alloy shell, as well as a 3-inch LCD screen. It is designed to be on par with the latest in technology as it is installed with Wi-Fi connectivity. This would allow the user to offload their photos to their devices and even control the camera through remote means.
