With more people working remotely these days, the demand for 2-in-1 tablet/laptop hybrids has skyrocketed. To ensure that consumers are always connected whether they are in the office or telecommuting, Lenovo has introduced the Miix 720, a premium portable PC that is shaping up to be a formidable rival to the Microsoft Surface Pro lineup.

According to the Chinese tech company, the goal of the Miix 720 is to provide users with a Windows-powered detachable that offers flexibility and work mobility thus promulgating the work from anywhere philosophy,

In terms of specs, the Lenovo Miix 720 features a 12-inch Quad HD+ display with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels that delivers ultra-crisp visuals. It is only 14.6 mm thin and very light at 2.4 pounds so the device can be brought anywhere. The 2-in-1 can support up to the seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16 GB of random access memory (RAM) and up to 1 TB of built-in storage.

The Miix 720 comes with a precision touchpad-enabled keyboard. It has a 1.5 mm key travel and is backlit to ensure productivity even in low-light situations. The keyboard can also be easily removed so that the device is transformed into a tablet. Furthermore, the display's kickstand can be adjusted up to 150 degrees to ensure a comfortable viewing experience.

With the use of the Lenovo Active Pen 2 stylus, users can check emails by pressing the shortcut button, take notes, annotate documents and sketch. It has 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and users will feel like they are writing and drawing on paper.

The recently unveiled device is equipped with a 1-megapixel infrared camera with support for Windows Hello facial recognition so users won't have to deal with passwords. There is also a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera for taking portraits and landscapes.

The Lenovo Miix 720 provides up to eight hours of battery life in a single charge. Running out of battery also won't be a problem as the device's USB Type-C port is compatible with most smartphone chargers. It also has support for Thunderbolt 3 for projecting the display onto a 4K monitor and for transferring large volumes of data. Moreover, the hybrid also has USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports.
