Lexus is all set for its presentation and exhibit for the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Center in Detroit, scheduled for Jan. 8–22. The luxury automaker is slated to introduce the UX Concept with 3D Human Machine Interface alongside the all-new 2018 LS flagship sedan.

The luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment has become one of the fastest-growing car segments today and automakers are constantly trying to stand out and stay ahead of the competition. With this in mind, Lexus has developed the UX Concept. The compact crossover concept vehicle made its first appearance at the Paris Motor Show last September.

According to Lexus, the UX Concept is designed to attract a new group of people — the young, always-connected urban customers. It has an "inside-out" design concept that gives the concept crossover powerful and original exterior and interior aesthetics.

In terms of exterior styling, the UX Concept's front fascia seems to flow seamlessly from the fenders to the side mirror cameras. The concept crossover has a visible inner skeleton that is emphasized by the wheel arches, roof bars and door cameras. The exterior is also highly sculpted to give it a more three-dimensional appearance.

Inside, the four-seat UX Concept features a deconstructed cabin with an ergonomically designed cockpit that is designed to give the driver a unique, immersive and enhanced experience. The 3D Human Machine Interface also provides a continuous connection between the car and the driver.

The UX Concept will also display Lexus' Kinetic Seat Concept that is described as breakthrough seat technology developed as a response to "a re-evaluation of the principles of car seat occupancy." It features distinct seat cushions and backrests that move kinetically with the occupant and spider-web-pattern net seats that are spread out radially to closely form the body shape. The threads are also made from environmentally conscious synthetic spider silk.

Aside from that, the concept crossover also comes with a vast number of advanced technologies such as electro-chromatic windows, an electrostatic switchgear that is housed under transparent covers and a removable sound bar integrated into the passenger side of the dashboard, among others.

To see how all these innovative design elements come together as one, be sure to check out the Lexus UX Concept's North American debut at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2017.
