LG G4 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Images of LG Flagship Phone Appear on Official Microsite
A major leak came out a few days ago about the upcoming flagship smartphone from LG, the G4. Surprisingly, it originated from a microsite set up by the company.
Several images of the G4, along with some of its specs, were featured in the site. The details confirmed the rumors that have been floating around that the device would have leather covering its back panel and a "slim arc" design.
The images and the official specs were seen live on the microsite for several hours before they disappeared. However, by that time the images and specs had already been captured on screenshots and circulated worldwide.
The leak revealed that the phone will have six differently colored genuine leather back panels. For those who prefer a plastic back panel, the LG G4 will offer three options: white, grey and gold with a diamond texture. The arc design, which was hinted at in rumors, will allow the phone to be held easily by the user.
More details about the screen on the device also surfaced in the leak. The company dubbed it as "QHD IPS quantum display" with a resolution of 2560X1440 and measuring 5.5 inches. LG, in its blurb for the display, states that it will provide authentic color reproduction and consume less battery power.
Like previous models, the LG G4 is also set to feature a 3,000mAh battery and a microSD card slot which other recent devices like the Galaxy S6 lack.
As for the processor, there was no indication as to what would be used on the LG G4. Current rumors point towards the company using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, which it also used on the LG G Flex 2. As for RAM, the device could come with 3GB. Coming to its camera, it is expected to have a 16 megapixel version and an f/1.8 aperture.
The LG G4 will be formally released on April 28.
