LG G6 release date, specs & features news: glass and metal case to replace old all-metal design of G5?

Will the LG G6 still look the same as the current G5 series? | lg.com

The LG G6 will have something in common with Samsung smartphones upon its release.

Android Police managing editor David Ruddock posted new information on Twitter regarding the possible features of LG's next-generation flagship phone.

At first, Ruddock tweeted that a source was saying that the upcoming LG G6 will have an all-glass design that looks like the one applied by Samsung to its mobile phones. He later corrected the information with another Twitter post, saying that the G6's body will not be entirely made of glass. Instead, it will have a highly reflective metallic material that will be placed on the device's rear portion.

This could mean that the design of the rumored LG G6 device will look sleeker compared with the design of its predecessor. When the current flagship product of LG called the G5 was released in April this year, it came out with an all-metal body.

Ruddock also revealed that the upcoming LG G6 will not come with a removable battery unlike its predecessor. This means that users will no longer have the option of changing the device's battery with a spare one when they run out of power. By doing so, the smartphone manufacturer will follow the battery design of Apple for iPhone 7 as well as Samsung's Galaxy S7 devices.

Also, the journalist revealed that LG is planning not to remove its 3.5mm headphone jack like what Apple did to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. According to reports, LG will continue including the headphone jack while Samsung is rumored to have plans to remove it from their upcoming Galaxy S8 line.

On the other hand, there is no information provided regarding the possibility of seeing the module attachments to the upcoming smartphone from LG. This feature did not attract the attention of the consumers for the LG G5 despite the units' wide array of function.

The LG G6 is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February 2017.
