LG G6, the South Korean tech giant's upcoming flagship device, will make its much-anticipated debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) this February. Reports have also suggested that LG will release the smartphone ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S8 in order to capitalize on sales.

LG has not made an official announcement regarding the arrival of the G6 but it recently released a promotional video that strongly hinted of such. In the 40-second teaser, consumers were asked about the features that they would want to see in their ideal smartphone. Among the requests were a big screen, smaller body, waterproof and reliable. And at the end of the clip, LG promised to deliver just that in February. Various publications have seemingly reached a consensus that it is indeed the LG G6 that will be arriving very soon.

Furthermore, sources from South Korea have also revealed that LG is planning to make the G6 available to consumers on March 11, more than a month before the Galaxy S8 arrives in the market. Samsung is also expected to debut its next-generation flagship at MWC 2017 before officially launching on April 18.

LG seems to have a good reason for opting for this particular release window. The company's current flagship, the G5, featured an innovative modular design which impressed a lot of consumers. Nevertheless, the smartphone was not considered as a success in terms of sales. This may have somehow contributed to LG's first operational loss in six years. As such, the tech giant is looking to turn things around in 2017 starting with the G6.

According to the latest reports, the upcoming device will have a 5.7-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) with a Quad HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The LG G6 is said to be the first to use this new display panel and that it will provide greater immersion and multitasking for consumers. This particular display also forgoes the use of a touch cover glass so the smartphone will be much thinner. Bezels are also said to have been reduced.

To see the LG G6 unveiled, be sure to check out MWC 2017, to be held in Barcelona from Feb. 27 to March 2.
