The LG Watch Urbane may be the best Android Wear rival to the Apple Watch. Many observers have pointed out that it is actually very similar to its predecessor, the LG Watch G R. Here's how the devices fare in a comparison.

Design

There is no doubt that the LG Watch G R is designed for people who have exercise or sports on their mind. It has a steel rim that protrudes above its round watch face. The body is paired with leather strap that comes in a variety of colors. The default strap can be replaced by any standard strap if the user wants it. The LG Watch Urbane has a steel body that comes with a gold or silver polish, which gives it a sophisticated and stylish look. Like its predecessor, it has a round watch face and a natural leather strap that can be swapped with a standard 22mm strap. As for the two devices' dust and water resistant capabilities, they both come with the IP67 rating. This means they are waterproof up to a depth of one meter and for up to 30 minutes. Comparing their dimensions, the LG Watch Urbane is slightly smaller and slimmer than the LG Watch G R.

Display

Both devices have a 1.3-inch-P-OLED screen with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and a density of 245 pixels per inch.

Specs and Memory

The LG Watch G R and the LG Watch Urbane both have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. Similarly, each also has 4GB of onboard storage and 512MB of RAM.

Sensors

Both devices are again quite similar as they have a compass, accelerometer, gyro, barometer and PPG heart rate sensor.

Battery

The battery on the LG G Watch R is a 410mAh version. The same is also present on the LG Watch Urbane. This battery lasts for about one to two days on the LG G Watch R. Battery life on the LG Watch Urbane could be similar.

Price

The LG G Watch R currently costs $300. Most industry insiders expect the LG Watch Urbane to cost more than the former when it is released during the M.W.C. 2015 a little more than a week from now.
