'Longmire' season 6 release date, plot rumors: Will Walt and Vic finally end up together in season 6?
When the TV series "Longmire" was canceled by A&E, many were mortified that they would have to say goodbye to their favorite show without a proper conclusion to its storyline. Hence, many were thankful when Netflix managed to save it. However, the recent announcement of a "Longmire" season 6 renewal has become bittersweet news to its loyal viewers as the upcoming season would also be its last.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter last November, the sixth and final season of "Longmire" will consist of 10 episodes, and these will be released in 2017. This confirmed renewal would mean that the show will have spent its first three seasons on A&E and its last 3 seasons on Netflix, and will consist of 63 episodes in total.
"We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories. Most importantly, we're committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty," executive producers Greer Shephard, Hunt Baldwin, and John Coveny said.
With the upcoming conclusion to the story of "Longmire," many of the shows' fans are looking forward to how the love story between Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) and Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff) will pan out in the end. There are speculations, as reported by Jobs & Hire, that their relationship will grow deeper and more passionate in season 6.
There are also speculations that Walt breaking up with Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker) in the previous season could mean that the show's writers are directing the progress of the story toward the end goal of Walt and Vic getting together. Should this prove true, it will follow the storyline in Craig Johnson's book series "Walt Longmire Mysteries," the books the show was based on, in which Walt and Vic ended up together.
"Longmire" season 6, the series' final season, is expected to air sometime in the fall of 2017 on Netflix.
