Los Angeles Clippers trade rumors: Clips fighting to keep Blake Griffin in Staples
It appears the Los Angeles Clippers have a lot of work to be done as they try to keep Blake Griffin in the team for the coming season.
Recently, Griffin's name has been linked with other teams and it has slowly become a realistic scenario that could see the power forward switch from the Staples Center to another team.
Parent Herald reported that now, even the Toronto Raptors are looking to sign the forward as they continue to rebuild.
Furthermore, it appears that there will be at least four teams involved to make the move possible, with the Raptors and Clippers getting some assistance from the Sacramento Kings and Charlotte Hornets in the deal.
The move, also reported by Yibada, is said to involve Spencer Hawes and Paul Pierce from the Clippers moving to the Kings, while the Clips are getting Rudy Gay, Norman Powell, Jeremy Lamb and Cody Zeller as replacements. As for the Hornets, Patrick Patterson and Jonas Valanciunas are going to them.
All these movements are reportedly all for Griffin and Kosta Koufos to land in Toronto.
It should be a blockbuster move, and one that will definitely alter the seasons for all teams involved. Looking at it from the perspective of the Raptors, they are willing to do just about anything to get a player who has seven years of experience, a former number one draft pick back in 2009, a five-time NBA All-Star and one who averages 21.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
There is still no confirmation that the deal will go down, but as with everything, rumors are born from some facts put together, so one should keep an eye out on what Toronto are trying to cook up in Canada.
Getting Griffin will greatly help with the team's dynamic and add some star power outside of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan.
