Los Angeles Clippers trade rumors: Griffin linked to Eastern Conference franchise
Another trade rumor has gone around and this may carry a lot of weight as the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks are linked to trade some of the big names in their respective rosters.
Power forwards Kristaps Porzingis and Blake Griffin are on the block and may switch places if these talks are to be believed.
The Knicks are certainly trying to build a strong team to contend for the NBA title as they added names like Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Brandon Jennings and Courtney Lee to their line-up.
Playing alongside Carmelo Anthony, many thought that Porzingis may be a part of this team trying to be built to win titles, but it seems like Griffin is the preferred choice if he becomes available.
Sportsrageous also wrote about the possible trade between the two teams as the Clippers are also trying to shake up their roster so they can battle heavyweights like the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors.
Despite having a very strong team on paper, the Clippers have always fallen short against the elite teams in the Western Conference. Perhaps they are open to trying out different players and combinations that could finally upset the balance in the West.
The difference between Porzingis and Griffin are still easily seen, as Griffin is the more experienced player and his numbers show he is much better.
Griffin averages 21.5 points and 9.6 rebounds in his career and is still young at 27 years old. However, he has had some troubles off the court and the Clippers may see him as already at his peak
On the other hand, Porzingis is entering his second year as a professional and he burst into the scene, averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
Despite still having a raw game, Porzingis' ceiling may be high and he may improve if he gets to play alongside elite stars like Chris Paul.
This should be interesting if the trade does push through.
