Los Angeles Clippers trade rumors: Griffin may still leave at the end of the season
At the moment, things are going great for the Los Angeles Clippers as they sit atop the Pacific Division in this NBA season.
As of writing, the Clippers are at 8-1 and are one game above the Golden State Warriors. They are also clicking on all cylinders, making them a viable threat to the championship.
This team has one of the best cores in the league today with Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford and Blake Griffin all at the peak of their careers. They have also been playing together for a while now, and their chemistry should carry them far this year.
Should this fail, there are talks circulating that this may be the final year Griffin will be with the team. Rumor has it that the power forward may eventually leave and end up with another Western Conference team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
An Oklahoma native, Griffin may come home if things do not go well in Los Angeles. He may team up with Russell Westbrook to form another super duo to make a run for the championship.
Griffin has been one of the best power forwards in the league and his averages show just how good he is. At 27 years old, Griffin already averages 21.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. This year, he averages a double double in the first eight games of the season with 19.6 points and 10.1 rebounds.
Not only that, he is a physical player and has a great touch from the perimeter. His passing abilities are also underrated as he averages 4.0 assists per game throughout his career.
He is definitely one of the best in the game and if things are not successful in Lob City, then Loud City may be the next best option.
Griffin has a contract that extends until the 2017-18 season. However, he also has the opportunity to terminate his contract early. If success does not come this year, expect Blake to try and do something for himself .
