Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors 2016: Lakers may try to lure best players with new strategy
In their hopes to return to the top of the basketball world, it seems the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to do everything they can to land the biggest stars in the league next summer.
At the moment, the Lakers have missed out on signing Kevin Durant as the small forward moved from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Golden State Warriors.
Now, it seems the Lakers are putting their sights on the next summer as they target another Thunder star, Russell Westbrook.
Not just that, Mobile N Apps also claimed that the Lakers are creating a new strategy that can possibly even bring the Sacramento Kings' DeMarcus Cousins to Hollywood.
The strategy is said to make restrict current contracts to open up space in 2017 when the two players are available.
Quoting Eric Pincus from Basketball Insiders, the plan is simple: "The team has held off the signing of Tarik Black, Marcelo Huertas and second-overall pick, Brandon Ingram, keeping an eye on what could be $13.6 million in cap room assuming the team also waives and stretched Nick Young."
If needed, it appears the Lakers are also willing to part ways with some players of their young core to bring in Cousins in the team.
Julius Randle is the first name to mind as he is the team's big man at the moment and bringing in Cousins will immediately make an impact on his development and playing time.
However, the Lakers will likely do that if they have a chance to get Cousins as they are known to have a "win now" frame of mind rather than rebuilding and taking time as it may only hurt one of the biggest teams in the league.
These are mere speculations at the moment and nothing is yet set in stone, but expect the Lakers to make their moves in the roster to make a big splash in the next year.
