"Lucifer" is finally back for its second season and it seems to be building up to some tough times for everyone.

Charlotte aka Mama Morningstar (Tricia Helfer) did not show up until the very last scene of the episode but Lucifer's (Tom Ellis) utter dread over her escape was evident all throughout. He wanted to find her and he wanted to find her fast but she eventually ended up finding him and passing out into his arms after groaning out, "Help me."

Amenadiel (D. B. Woodside) also seemed to be in a sort of fix. After an attempt to retrieve Lucifer's blood from the police station, it showed him instead how overstaying on Earth was gradually depleting his angelic powers.

Determined to throw Chloe (Lauren German) off from getting Lucifer's blood tested, he ended up weaving a tale about a delusional Lucifer who created a "Devil" persona to compensate for a rough childhood. Nobody, not even Lucifer's partner, needed to know that Lucifer was indeed the real thing.

Lucifer's loyal ally, Maze (Lesley-Ann Brand), came back from allegedly meeting up with someone who would help her find a more concrete direction in her new world. She denied aiding Charlotte, whose escape incidentally coincided with the time that Maze was gone. It was eventually revealed that Maze had been consulting with Dr. Linda (Rachael Harris) about her own personal issues.

On the preview for the next episode titled "Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire," Charlotte will promise her son that she did not come to Earth to hurt anyone but she will then headbutt Maze once they are left alone. The episode will also reveal why Lucifer's mother was imprisoned in Hell in the first place.

According to a brief episode summary on TV Guide, the episode's Case of the Week will be a murder case involving Charlotte. Maze will be stuck babysitting Lucifer's seemingly wily mother.

"Lucifer" airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on FOX.
