'Luke Cage' news: Mike Colter comments on Marvel TV characters appearing in the MCU

Marvel fans have been well aware that even though the Marvel TV shows always mention characters and events from the movies, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has yet to make a reference to anything happening in the TV world. Mike Colter, star of Netflix's "Luke Cage," comments on a possible crossover between the two worlds and the future of the MCU.

In a radio interview with Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM, Colter says that the main reason why the MCU is having a hard time with the crossover is because of the difference in story tone. He says, "We're adult kind of oriented. We're not PG-13. We're not really for the mass audiences, crowd pleasing, family oriented. We have sex scenes. We have, you know, adult situations, and while I think it'd be nice to be in the films, I don't know if we want to dilute what we're doing that makes us very unique."

There is no question that the Marvel Netflix world is grittier and violent compared to the MCU. Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) have more violent and psychological villains to attend to, compared to Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) who battle enemies on a more grandiose scale.

Colter also goes on to say that one of the main issues with the crossovers is the scheduling among all of the actors. The movies take years to prepare and shoot, while the Marvel Netflix shows are in production all year round.

The Russo Brothers, who are directing "The Avengers: Infinity War," have also hinted that when it comes to the movies, they do consider "everyone." Unlike the series though, movies need to properly balance the treatment of each character within the span of a two-hour movie. Series have the privilege of dedicating an entire episode to one character's development.
