MacBook Air 2016 release date, specs news: Price tag set to be $1200?
The highly anticipated release of MacBook Air 2016 has been surrounded by contradicting reports with regard to the future of the series. Previous reports suggested that Apple may eliminate the MacBook Air line from their product list as they focus on the new MacBook Pro line-up. However, new reports have emerged that MacBook Air might be launched by Apple at the company's rumored event in September.
The event is said to feature several products to be released this year including the iPhone 7, MacBook Pro 2015 and Apple Watch 2. Apparently, the Cupertino-based company is gearing up for the release of the new MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Air 2016 as reports of discounts given by retailers on the previous models of the two laptops.
According to reports the 2015 version of MacBook Pro is now discounted by up to $569. It's a pretty huge price cut for the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2015, which run on a 2.5GHz processor paired with 16 GB of RAM. It also has a 512 GB of internal storage capacity. The 2015 laptop is currently being sold at $1929.99 on Ebay, Apple Insider reported.
Meanwhile, BGR reported that all signals are pointing to Apple's MacBook Air series cancellation. Although the company has yet to provide an official announcement with regard to the speculations, tech experts are pretty positive that MacBook Pro 2016 will be the new flagship laptop of the company.
Nonetheless, if Apple pushes on the development of the new MacBook Air 2016, fans will see it in the market before the year ends with a $1200 price tag.
On the other hand, the MacBook Pro 2016 will carry impressive specs and features including the latest Intel processing card, the Kaby Lake. The device will also run on the new MacOS, which was introduced during the recently concluded Apple Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC 2016
