It has been a while since the MacBook Air was refreshed by Apple. For the past few months, there have been rumors circulating on the internet regarding the next MacBook Air model to arrive later this year. So far, the Cupertino-based tech company has no official word yet regarding the next iteration of the Mac Air, although the rumors are rife that the public will see the new face of the MacBook Air this October.

The rumors of the MacBook Air 2016 being released this month exist in spite of other people's speculation that Apple may soon discontinue the production of the Mac Air laptops. As reported by Yibada, there is a possibility that Apple will instead focus all of its time and effort in the near future for the next image of the MacBook Pro. After all, the Mac Pro laptops are the high-tier units compared to the Mac Air, and Apple might decide on investing solely on the MacBook Pro.

To recall, Apple has presented a small update on the design of the current MacBook Air model last April, but this cannot be considered as a major refresh like what most of the Apple followers are expecting from the company. MacBook fans believe that it is probably high time for Apple to unveil its latest design.

As for iTech Post's latest report, the latest rumors have it that Apple will release not only one but three MacBook variants this October. For the MacBook Air, it is expected that the all-new 13.3-inch laptop will be showcased during the next Apple Event. Likewise, for the MacBook Pro line, a 13.3-inch and a larger 15.4-inch variants will also be unveiled afterward.

It is rumored that the MacBook Air 2016 will be the thinnest laptop yet from the Mac Air series, plus it is expected to sport an OLED screen and Touch ID feature. The users might also see more USB-C ports in the device.

For the record, Apple has no official announcement regarding the arrival of either the MacBook Air 2016 or MacBook Pro 2016, so it would be best not to give much credence to these early rumors.
