'MacBook Pro 2016' release date news: Laptop to drop late October?
It is expected that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be released next month. New information now points to a much more specific timeframe for the launch.
Macrumors has received new information that the laptop will see the light of day late October. According to the site, Apple is going for the latter half of the month to push out the device.
The Cupertino-based company is looking to go big on the MacBook Pro 2016 since it will be the first upgrade of the laptop line in four years.
There will be massive design changes to expect in the device including a digital strip set to replace the physical function keys on the keyboard. It will use Organic Light-Emitting Diodes or OLED.
This digital strip, internally referred to by Apple as the Dynamic Function Row, will display the functions as well as other controls specific to the applications.
This means that when MacBook Pro 2016 users use the iTunes, iMovie or Safari web browser, the controls specific to these apps will be displayed on the digital strip.
The MacBook Pro 2016 is also expected to ditch the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack following the footsteps of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Although not confirmed, Apple has hinted its plans to go headphone jack-less in the new MacBook in a survey to its users where one question read: "Do you ever use the headphone port on your MacBook Pro with Retina display?"
In addition to that, the MacBook Pro 2016 is also believed to come in the same colors that Apple usually come in: gold, space gray and silver. A Touch ID fingerprint scanner is also expected.
To top all the design changes off, the MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to be thinner in build with its curves "shallower" than the previous one.
