MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs news update: Apple to hold another event in October to unveil new Mac Pro

Apple has recently unveiled the new iPhone 7 smartphone during the company's Sept. 7 press event. The whole world tuned in to the special announcement of Apple, which also showcased the updated version of their wearable device, the Apple Watch Series 2. However, the public did not get any information regarding the status of Apple's MacBook gadgets, particularly the MacBook Pro. According to the latest rumors, Apple has purposely skipped on the announcement of the MacBook refresh to focus on the company's flagship phone. With this, the public can expect another Apple event in the coming weeks, this time focusing on the highly anticipated Mac Pro 2016.

The latest report suggests that Apple will be having another press event on Oct. 26, which will highlight the Cupertino-based tech giant's other device offerings for this year. Aside from the 2016 version of the MacBook Pro, the public may also see the MacBook Air and the iPad Pro being updated.

Earlier, it was believed that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be among the first few devices to be powered by Intel's seventh generation of chipsets. The Intel Kaby Lake processor is said to improve the performance of the MacBook Pro, but the downside of it will be the delayed release of the Apple laptop. So far, the shipping of the Kaby Lake processors has not yet been completed. If Apple was to use the Kaby Lake chipset for the new MacBook Pro, then the public may have to wait until the first quarter of 2017 for its release.

Just recently, it was brought up that the MacBook Pro 2016 is no longer expected to sport the Intel Kaby Lake chipset. The Verge reported that Apple has switched to AMD's brand new 64-bit A10 Fusion chipset to power up their latest MacBook laptop. With this, it is more likely that the Mac followers will be able to get their much-awaited MacBook Pro before the year ends. To note, the iPhone 7 also uses an A10 fusion chipset for greater boost compared to its predecessors.

The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to boast a lot of changes upon its release. According to iTech Post, the new Mac Pro may follow the footstep of the iPhone 7 and get rid of the traditional 3.5mm headphone hack as well. It is also rumored to feature an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display touch bar with Touch ID functionality. This will add fingerprint scanning to the security features of the MacBook Pro, similar to the iPhone.

For its core specs, the MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to have 8GB and 16GB RAM variants, both having at least 1TB internal memory. It is also rumored to sport a lighter and thinner appearance than before. Its screen display is reported to support 5K displays clocked at a screen resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels.
