MacBook Pro 2016 release date, news, specs rumors: New Mac Pro to be unveiled at Oct. 24 Apple Event?
MacBook followers were expecting that last month's Apple Event would showcase the refresh of the Macbook laptop. Specifically, it has long been rumored that the Macbook Pro will be refreshed this year, although it was never confirmed when the gadget will be released. Much to some people's dismay, the Sept. 7 Apple Event mostly focused on the new iPhone 7 smartphone. With this, all eyes are set to a possible separate press event to be held later this month.
According to Game N Guide, it is possible that Apple intended to leave the big MacBook Pro announcement last September as there will be another event to feature the new Apple laptops. To recall, Apple did a similar thing back in 2015 when the Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled the iPhone 6 in September, which was later on followed by another event to showcase the company's other device offerings for 2015.
Although Apple has no official confirmation regarding the rumor, many people are anticipating the arrival of the MacBook Pro 2016 on October 24.
The featured specs of the MacBook Pro 2016 are expected to be high-end, and may possibly introduce a lot of firsts in the MacBook series. International Business Times reported that there will be two variants of 2016 Mac Pro laptops, the 15-inch and the 13-inch variants. Both kinds will be sporting an OLED touch-sensitive screen for faster and more efficient app navigation. This will be the first MacBook model to have an OLED screen, replacing the old function keys.
It is also expected that the MacBook Pro 2016 will lose the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, much like what happened with the iPhone 7. It may also receive a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanning technology with Apple's Touch ID.
As per Yibada, it is still unclear if MacBook Pro 2016 will use the seventh generation Intel Kaby Lake processor, like what has been said in the rumors earlier this year. There is still no confirmation if Intel has already finished shipping the Kaby Lake chipsets, and according to some reports, the shipping will be completed only by the end of 2016. In this case, the MacBook Pro may skip the Kaby Lake upgrade and stick with the current Skylake processor.
