MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs rumors: October event to feature new Mac?
Apple has officially scheduled another fall keynote event that inspired renewed hope for a possible MacBook Pro 2016 release. Bearing the tagline, "hello again," the event is also expected to unveil updates regarding the Mac.
The "hello again" tagline could be a direct reference to the Mac. The first Apple computer debuted in 1984 with the word "hello" displayed on its screen, then the tagline "hello (again)" subsequently marked the 1998 debut of the iMac.
9TO5Mac reported that the scheduled event came as a bit of a surprise since Apple did not hold a second fall event in 2015. It already looked like the iPhone 7 event previously held in September was going to be the Cupertino-based tech company's last major product unveiling before the upcoming move to the Apple Campus 2 in 2017.
Rumors about the possible October release of the much awaited MacBook Pro 2016 has been persistently going around. Recode argued that since Apple already released the macOS Sierra, the tech company should be due to unveil computer models that cater to this software just in time for the holiday season.
Fortune speculated that Apple's newest desktop operating system could also be updated at the October press event to allow for the integrations of both the OLED display panel and the Touch ID features in the MacBook Pro 2016.
Other new features that may be included in the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 are USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports, Polaris GPU, and Skylake processors. The updated MacBook Pros may also come in both 13-inch and 15-inch form factors.
The "hello again" event is scheduled to take place at Apple's Cupertino Campus instead of in San Francisco like previous unveiling events. It will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 10.a.m. PDT. It will be streamed live on the official Apple events page.
Apple has remained mum about more details on the upcoming event.
