'Major Crimes' season 5 spoilers: Moral hazard surfaces in upcoming episode as show goes into hiatus for Olympics
After handling a case that almost put Los Angeles' tourism industry at risk, the team will be facing something, which, as the upcoming episode's title portends, would bring about a "Moral Hazard" to the surface.
The team faced a challenging case in the sixth episode of "Major Crimes" season 5 titled "Tourist Trap." There was a robbery which escalated to the murder of a British tourist. Since the crime happened on American soil, the case became an international incident.
The potential for Los Angeles' tourism industry receiving a hard hit from the case was there, but it was discovered just before the episode ended that it was actually a hit for hire. Moreover, even after the assassin confessed to his crime, it remained unclear what the real story behind the crime was.
Finally, it was revealed that it was the wife who hired the assassin to kill her husband on the premise that the latter was trying to leave her. What was puzzling was the murder's connection to why the assassin blackmailed the wife.
Perhaps one of the biggest hitches of the evening was the annoying British reporter whose motives in investigating the case was questionable.
In the next episode titled "Moral Hazard," fans would learn whether more information about Buzz (Phillip P. Keene) and the case of his father and uncle. That is a subject that has been touched on much of the ongoing season, and it would be shown how Rusty (Graham Patrick Martin) would try to help him even without sanction from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Carter Matt also hints that three people would die after a shootout, and the team would be in a race against time as they look for ways to stop a mentally unstable shooter before he kills more people.
On a side note, the show could go on a short hiatus since the Olympics are coming, and the network might opt to pre-empt the show than compete with the sporting event.
"Major Crimes" season 5 episode 7 airs Monday at 10 p.m. on TNT.
