'Marvel vs Capcom 4' release date, news: Capcom unveils "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" at PSX 2016
As expected, Capcom has officially confirmed that they are working on the fourth game in the "Marvel vs Capcom" series by releasing a trailer at the PlayStation Experience (PSX) event during the weekend. The game will be called "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite."
The trailer has confirmed that Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Mega Man and Ryu are going to be part of the game. Capcom has also released a gameplay trailer that confirms the appearance of Captain America and Morrigan.
As seen in the announcement trailer, the characters appear to be fighting over an Infinity Stone (Infinity Gem for comic book fans). Since the game is titled "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite," gamers can expect the powerful artifact to play a role in this game, and Game Informer has confirmed that this is indeed true.
According to the publication, the game is going to scrap the three-versus-three battle format and adopt a two-versus-two mode of fighting. Furthermore, "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will no longer have the assist characters that its predecessors have. Instead of choosing an assist character, players get to choose an Infinity Stone to aid them in battle.
Game Informer's Suriel Vazquez revealed that Capcom actually did a lot of thinking before they decided to do this.
"The team at Capcom considered the decision for a long time before settling on two-versus-two for the sake of accessibility. Although frantic combat is core to the series, Director of Production at Capcom Mike Evans wants more casual fans to be able to jump in without being overwhelmed," he stated.
Vazquez pointed out that this can make the game easier to master because players can concentrate on two characters without worrying about the team's order when they swap. He also revealed that the Infinity Stones are used to balance the game and make up for the deficiencies of a particular team.
Now that "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" has been confirmed, the question gamers would like to ask is: Are X-Men characters going to appear in the game? Right now, Capcom hasn't revealed anything yet regarding the characters, but more details should come out in the next few days. Stay tuned.
