'Mass Effect: Andromeda' news: BioWare exec clarifies previous mature content comment; new footage showcases Peebee's loyalty mission
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" arrives in a few weeks, and a new footage for the highly anticipated game has been released.
IGN released a 17-minute video of the game, and it focuses on Peebee's loyalty mission. PCGamer notes that there's probably something on the planet that the character wants. She realizes that no one is willing to take her down to get it, leading her to trick Ryder and the Krogan. While her motivations for being there are not clear, another asari is also determined to get what Peebee wants.
"Game of Thrones" actress Natalie Dormer voices Asari, one of the game's lead characters. Although she admits that she doesn't have the time to play video games, the actress shared what made her excited about the project.
"They're dependent on each other for survival, tolerant towards each other in their different attributes and strengths and weaknesses that they all bring," she told The Guardian. Dormer added that the "sexual politics" even makes her smile, along with the other options for character interactions. "It's so well thought out, and it's so human, and detailed. It's to be admired for those things," she continued.
In other related news, BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn recently received negative comments from fans after sharing details about the romantic encounters in the upcoming game. Flynn tweeted earlier this week that the game is "totally softcore space porn," but he has now clarified that he was just being sarcastic.
"Sorry, I gave the wrong impression. We have strong characters, great gameplay, romances, and more, all dealing with mature themes," the BioWare boss wrote on Twitter Tuesday.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" has recently gone gold, and it will officially launch on March 21 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Prior to its release, fans can play the game through a multiplayer beta that is expected to be announced soon.
