Video-game based titular hero "Mega Man" will return to the small screens in 2017 in an animated series wherein Mega Mini will join him in his fighting adventures.

Video game development company Capcom announced that Dentsu Entertainment and DHX Media, together with Man of Action as executive producer, will reinstate the classic robot character on television in the following year.

It is worth noting that more than 20 years ago, a TV series starring the fighter robot had already aired and ran for two seasons. Capcom described the previous "Mega Man" animation "a fresh, and unique, if not sometimes silly, take on Mega Man, and one that a lot of people ... remember fondly."

The 2017 revival of the animated "Mega Man" series will follow the tale of a regular, cheerful and enthusiastic young robot named Aki Light who lives simply in Silicon City without prior knowledge that he can transform into a superhero. He will later on find out about his superior capabilities and that his programming contains secret codes and protocols that will allow for his transformation into "Mega Man."

The new "Mega Man" television series will showcase new technologies and new robots, but still without excluding the robot hero's classic nanocore armor and helmet and the Mega Buster. And this time "Mega Man" will be accompanied and aided by his alter-ego Mega Mini.

He will be on call to try and save Silicon City, eliminating threats against its people's safety and existence as he keeps the secret that Aki Light and "Mega Man" are but one individual. He conceals his identities so as to be able to lead a regular schoolkid living.

"The best thing about Mega Man is his unflinching wide-eyed optimism and an over-the-top sense of humor," Duncan Rouleau of Man of Action said in a statement, as reported by IGN.

Rouleau went on to share: "This show reflects both qualities. We've got it all in there, it's hopeful, forward-leaning, action-packed... it's full on fun ahead."

While the new "Mega Man" animated show is still in the works, Capcom is waiting to announce its exact date of debut next year which also happens to be the 30th anniversary of the franchise.
