Meizu Pro 6 Plus release date, specs, price news: Flagship device officially unveiled; features Flyme 6 OS

Chinese manufacturer Meizu has just unveiled its newest flagship device — the PRO 6 Plus. The newest smartphone in the PRO lineup features premium hardware and the latest technologies to deliver an impressive performance.

"PRO 6 Plus integrates Meizu's delicate design and top-notch hardware configurations and ensures an exquisite user experience," said Aber Bai, president of Meizu, adding, "We believe it's a great product in all aspects and we look forward to it becoming popular in the market."

The Pro 6 Plus features a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 518 pixels per inch (ppi). A notable feature is 3D Press, pressure-sensitive functionality similar to Apple's 3D Touch.

The recently unveiled smartphone is powered by an octa-core Exynos 8890 processor and the Mali-T880 graphics processing unit (GPU) which handles large-scale tasks and video gaming. There is also 4 GB of random access memory (RAM). The PRO 6 Plus comes in two variants — one with 64 GB of internal storage and the other with 128 GB.

Meizu equipped its latest flagship with a 12-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture that is able to deliver impressive images even at night. Its high-performance ISP image processor also enhances color, sharpness and minimizes noise. On the other side, there is a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

Other prominent features include a fingerprint sensor that also doubles as a heartrate monitor, Hi-Fi audio, and a USB Type-C + USB 3.1 port. There is also 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. Powering the device is a 3,400 mAh battery with fast charge capabilities.

The PRO 6 Plus also introduces Meizu's latest operating system — Flyme 6. The OS features One Mind, an artificial intelligence system that adjusts performance based on the user's actions and preferences which in turn, allow the device to run seamlessly. Furthermore, there are over 400 new features.

The all-metal device comes in three colors — Gray, Champagne Gold and Silver.

The Meizu PRO 6 Plus is expected to arrive later this month. The 64 GB model is priced at 2,999 CNY or about $435 while the 128 GB variant is offered for 3,299 CNY or about $479.
