In the latest trailer of the comeback season for "Gilmore Girls," viewers could witness the result of Melissa McCarthy's dedication to a healthy lifestyle. The actress shed 75 pounds after following a high-protein, low-carb diet, and a daily exercise routine.

The actress, who is portraying Chef Sookie in the upcoming "Gilmore Girls" reboot, is noticeably slimmer in the teaser for Netflix's TV show. McCarthy will be reprising her role in the franchise, along with the show's main cast members Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham.

So what's her secret? McCarthy revealed her weight-loss regimen to OK! Magazine last April. She shared that her diet mainly consisted of a lot of fruits and vegetables as well as lean fish and chicken, nuts, seeds, and healthy fats. The low-carb diet means that the actress has been avoiding food such as white bread, pasta, rice, cakes, cookies and bagels.

Aside from her meals, McCarthy eats healthy snacks, particularly spinach, apples, chia seeds and kale smoothies. She reportedly drinks two cups of green tea every day. Her first cup will be during her morning snack; meanwhile, her second cup of green tea will be during lunch.

The actress has also been doing martial arts and boxing to strengthen her body and resistance. She routinely does burpees, squats, lunges, deadlifts and jumprope.

The actress slash writer, producer and fashion designer jokingly told OK! Magazine that aside from eating healthy, sleeping early was key to her losing 75 pounds. The actress teased that one of the secrets to her weight loss has to do with being well-rested or sleeping early, particularly at 7:30 p.m.

The change in lifestyle was borne from her desire to become a better role model to her fans and her two children.

Fans can catch McCarthy and the rest of the cast of "Gilmore Girls" when the season premieres on Netflix on Friday, Nov. 25 at 12 a.m. PT.
