"Mike & Molly" alum Melissa McCarthy is known for her award-winning roles in such films as "Bridesmaids" (2011) and "Spy" (2015), but the actress has recently made headlines for a major achievement in a different aspect of her life.

Since starring in "Mike & Molly," the actress has dropped around 75 pounds, a feat that she attributes to a low-carb, high-protein diet coupled with regular exercise. McCarthy has also said that a "super boring" lifestyle has helped her control her weight.

McCarthy's incredible weight loss was reportedly a result of a diet in which half of the calories come from high protein foods such as organic eggs, lean grass-fed beef, and wild-caught fish. The diet does not prohibit carbohydrates but minimizes them. In addition to lean protein, McCarthy also reportedly consumes lots of high fiber fruits and vegetables. She is also said to drink a lot of water and green tea, both of which help boost weight loss.

Apart from improving her diet, McCarthy has also taken up regular exercise and made changes to her lifestyle to help keep off the excess pounds.

"The real secret is a super boring life," the actress told OK! magazine earlier this year. "You go to bed at 7:30 [p.m.]. That's the trick."

Apart from learning how to take better care of herself, McCarthy has also learned how to accept compliments about her new figure. "A biggie for me is, take the compliment..." she said, adding that this is something she has taught her young daughters, Vivian, 9, and Georgie, 6.

"It's kind of a rule with me — just say thank you, don't negate it. I hope that's one of the many ways I show my girls that it's OK to like who you are and it's ok that everybody's different. If we were all the same, we'd be robots," she added.

McCarthy reprises her role as Sookie St. James in the "Gilmore Girls" Netflix revival, which drops Friday, Nov. 25.
