Mi Note vs Galaxy S6 Edge Specs, Price Review: Features Comparison - Xiaomi Phone Faces Still Samsung Challenge
With the release of its Mi Note, Xiaomi hoped to strengthen its position as one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world and even attract new customers from the West. However, it soon found itself in stiff competition with the curved-screen Galaxy S6 Edge which was released earlier this month.
Design
Design is where both these smartphones are almost alike. The Mi Note looks similar to the smartphones from the iPhone range with its aluminum frame with rounded edges and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on its front and back panel. As for the Galaxy S6 Edge, it has a truly unique display with curved edges sweeping over its left and right side. It also has an aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass 4 on its back panel. The curved edges on the screen display news alerts, images of callers and a night clock. They even light up with a color assigned to a specific caller.
Display
The Galaxy S6 Edge has literally redefined the term "crisp display" as its super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch, something which other smartphones will struggle to compete against. The Mi Note has a bigger IPS LCD screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 386 pixels per inch.
Specs
The Mi Note has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset coupled with a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The Galaxy S6 Edge comes with the Exynos 7420 chipset and a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz along with a Mali-T760 GPU.
Memory
Both devices do not have memory slots. In terms of RAM, again they are similar with 3 GB each.
Camera
The main rear camera on the Galaxy S6 is a 16-megapixel version with a number of features including optical image stabilization. The Mi Note has a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization that is set well within its back panel and does not stick out.
Price
The 16 GB Mi Note is priced at $370 without a contract, while the 32 GB Galaxy S6 Edge could be priced between $800 and $850 without a two-year contract.
