Michael Schumacher health news & update: Ross Brawn 'extremely hopeful' legendary racer will recover
It's been almost three years already since Michael Schumacher's ski accident. The German retired racing driver's health is still a concern for many and his biggest fans are still wondering about his condition. But since the Schumacher family has decided to limit updates, there are no solid details regarding the former champion's real health status.
This didn't stop reports from still coming in though. Some reported that the seven-time Formula One World Champion has been recovering well while some debunked it and stated that there has been no progress. Others say that his health has been deteriorating while some say that he was able to walk. However, this report did not go so well because it only brought false information.
Schumacher's family reportedly sued a German magazine after claiming that the 47-year old racer was seen walking again. Felix Damm, the family's lawyer, revealed that Schumacher is still not able to walk. Apart from that, there was nothing more that Damm divulged. Apparently, the false report was a tactic of the publication to force the family to reveal details on the racer's health.
But even after that, nothing is known. Until today, fans, family friends and loved ones continue to hope for the best. Independent detailed that Ross Brawn, the former Formula 1 principal, could only cling on to hope.
He said that he is "extremely hopeful" about Schumacher's recovery. He also previously spoke to The Guardian about Schumacher's status but his statement was misinterpreted. He said that the racer's condition was "improving." However, he did not mean to say that Schumacher is on the road to recovery.
"I was quoted as saying he's improving and it was not what I really meant. The family are conducting his convalescence in private and I need to respect that," Brawn said.
When asked whether he still gets to see Schumacher, Brawn replied, "We do. We go see him and hope and pray that one day he will make a recovery."
