The highly anticipated Microsoft Surface Book 2 was previously rumored to come out this year; however, the company has never confirmed any of the rumors. Now, new reports have emerged saying that Microsoft is gearing up for the release of the new laptop along with Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and three all-in-one or AIO PCs.

According to a report by Windows Central, the American software company has shifted its focus on hardware releases following a successful anniversary update on Windows operating system.

The publication claimed that a source suggested that the company is currently working on the second generation Microsoft Surface Book 2. According to the source, the new laptop will run on Intel's upcoming processor, the Kaby Lake. There are speculations saying that Intel has already started shipping the new chip to Microsoft for the new device. The report added that Microsoft Surface Book 2 might not come out until 2015; however, a late 2016 release may also happen.

Although details about the development of the new Surface Book 2 are rare, there are reports saying that the portable computer will feature a USB Type-C connection. There are speculations suggesting that it is designed to support 3D and 4K graphics. Tech experts are also saying that the new Microsoft laptop could arrive with a much different design compared to its predecessor.

Apparently, Microsoft will make some major changes in the design including the fulcrum hinge of the original Microsoft Surface Book.

"The space allocated for Microsoft's unique fulcrum hinge, bothered some owners on aesthetic grounds (concerns over dust collecting in that area or structural weakness though seem to be unfounded). The alleged redesign I hear makes the display and keyboard flush when closed similar to a traditional laptop," the report says.

As of now, the company has yet to confirm these reports; however, fans are expecting Microsoft to provide concrete details anytime soon.
