Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date, specs rumors 2016: Next Microsoft laptop to be powered by Kaby Lake chipset?

Microsoft Surface Book, the first-ever laptop released by the company, has, so far, gained extremely positive reviews since its release back in October 2015.

With the success of the first Surface Book, Microsoft recently released the Surface Book i7, its second iteration. The Surface Book i7 boasted of updated processors, longer battery life, and many under-the-hood upgrades. Despite the release of this iteration, tech enthusiasts are still in anticipation of the arrival of the Surface Book 2, speculating what possible features it could have.

As reported by Game N Guide, speculations suggest that the main component feature of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 would be the much-anticipated Intel Kaby Lake processors, which are expected to be distributed sometime in 2017. This upgrade alone guarantees a speedier and smoother performance than the current Surface Book i7.

The current Surface Book model sports a 13.5- inch display with 3,000 x 2,000 (267 ppi) resolution. Although the Surface Book 2 may keep the same screen size, Tech Radar predicts that the upcoming model will be equipped with the more conventional 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160).

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 could also have improvements concerning the gadget's hinge system. This move will probably be done in order to address complaints from the customers about a gap that forms when the laptop is closed.

Many Surface Book users also wish for the upcoming Microsoft Surface Book 2 to have a longer battery life. According to Tech Radar, the original model only lasts for four hours on the Clipboard and eight hours on the base.

The upcoming Surface Pen is also expected to be equipped with a built-in recharge dock for the Surface Pen. For the current model, the pen is only powered by a standard AAA battery.

Microsoft has yet to issue an official statement regarding the existence and the release date of Microsoft Surface Book 2. However, there were previous reports which indicated that the device will launch sometime in 2017.
