Microsoft Surface Pro 3 vs Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro Comparison: Specs Review - A Battle Between 2 Tablet-Laptop Hybrids
If you are looking for a cross between a tablet and a laptop, then you would be wise to compare the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro.
Starting with design, the Yoga 3 Pro has a unique hinge which is comprised of six small hinges linked together, making it look like the wristband of a watch. The super flexible hinge allows the Yoga 3 Pro to be folded out flat with ease and also propped up when used as a tablet. Compared to this, the Surface Pro 3 has no hinge, which means that it functions as a tablet when its Type Cover keyboard is not attached to it. It has a back stand though. However, when the Type Cover is fixed, it makes the Surface Pro 3 thicker than the Yoga 3 Pro.
As for their display, the Yoga 3 Pro comes with a large 13.3-inch IPS touch screen that has an impressive resolution of 3800x1200 pixels and a pixel density of 299 pixels per inch. Compared to this, the Surface Pro 3 has a smaller 12-inch screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 216 pixels per inch.
In terms hardware, the Yoga 3 Pro has the latest Intel's Core M 5Y70 CPU, which is also known as Broadwell. It allows for lesser power consumption of 4.5 watts compared to the 15 watts that the Core i5 CPU of the Surface Pro 3 consumes. The Core M 5Y70 also comes with Intel's all-new advanced HD 5300 graphics core. As for the Surface Pro 3, it can also be bought with an advanced i7 chip which comes with either 256GB of storage priced at $1,549 while the 512GB version costs $1,949.
Finally in terms of speed, the sleek Yoga 3 Pro does not perform as well as the Surface Pro 3 with the Core i5 CPU or even the earlier Surface Pro 2 which had the Core i3 CPU.
