Microsoft Surface Pro 5, Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date, specs news update: Devices to be released the same time as new MacBook Pro; iPad Pro 2 to compete?
Microsoft will be holding an event next month for a big product launch. There, the company is expected to come out with the Microsoft Surface Book 2 and the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
However, it is believed that the software giant in Redmond will unveil its Surface All-in-One personal computer (PC), which will be the first of its kind.
Early this year, it was reported that Microsoft will push back the release of the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Pro 5 to early next year and focus on its first venture into the PC world.
The company reportedly decided to wait it out until the launch of the Redstone 2 update for Windows 10, which won't happen until next year.
A leak from a few months back also suggests that Microsoft only has one product set for unveiling this year while the rest will be for next year, spring 2017 to be exact.
Microsoft's competition—the MacBook Pro 2016 from Apple—is expected to be released next month along with the iMac 2016. Microsoft will have the Surface PC to compete with Apple's desktop computer.
If the company will push the release of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 to next year, it won't be able to steal the thunder of the new MacBook Pro.
If the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released next year, it could compete with the iPad Pro 2, which is due for release next year, as per KGI Securities Ming Chi-Kuo.
Microsoft has yet to make the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and the Microsoft Surface Book 2 official, let alone a launch date. But considering its respective predecessors were released October last year, users expect new iterations to be released this same month this year.
The Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 are expected to be powered by the Intel Kaby Lake processor, which will support 4K display as well as longer battery life and an overall improved performance.
