The upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5, as well as the Surface Book 2, has been in the rumor mill for a while. Earlier reports suggested that the new hybrid laptop will come out in 2016; however, due to hardware and software issues, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to be launched in 2017. However, the uncertainty of the device to come out is expected to continue as reports of Microsoft releasing an All In One or AIO PC has recently emerged.

According to a report by DigiTimes, fans may have to wait until 2017 for both the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 to come out. In addition to the report, the highly anticipated Surface Phone may also not going to be rolled out at the same time as the two laptops.

The publication noted that the delay of Surface Pro 5 may have something to do with the Kaby Lake processor. There have been speculations saying that Microsoft is waiting for the next-generation chipset from Intel to come out so that they can build their device around it.

Another reason many industry experts see is the new operating system called Windows 10 Redstone 2. Apparently, the new software will not be available for a planned 2016 release date.

Meanwhile, Microsoft plan to release an AIO is said to be an attempt to challenge Apple with their popular iMac, Redmond Pie reported. The high-end PC market has been dominated by the Cupertino-based company for quite some time now. According to reports, Microsoft would like to challenge Apple by building their own AIO, which is expected to carry impressive hardware units.

As of the moment, consumers who have been waiting for the Surface Pro 5 to come out, they will have to extend their patience as Microsoft is currently focusing on other projects.
