Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs, news: Device to launch in 2017 with enhanced Surface Pen?
The anticipated Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to be launched in 2017. The Surface Pro is also anticipated to have an enhanced Surface Pen.
The Surface Pro is Microsoft's tablet line that matches the functions of a laptop and sets the standard for Windows tablets. The newest model anticipated is the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, which will follow the Surface Pro 4 that was released in 2015.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was initially expected to be released in June 2016 to beat Apple's introduction of their new MacBook Pro model at the Worldwide Developer's Conference. But Microsoft did not release the Surface Pro 5, and Apple introduced their new MacBook Pro at a later date.
In October 2015, Microsoft launched their Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, and other new devices during their hardware event in New York City. Without a hard date, the Surface Pro 5 is also expected to debut in October of next year.
A lot of specs news has been circling the upcoming Surface Pro 5. According to Cnet, the new Microsoft tablet will have the Kaby Lake processor as it is expected to be launched by the end of 2016. In terms of the keyboard cover, although there are hopes that it will finally be included in the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 package, it is expected that it will still be sold separately.
Meanwhile, the stylus of the Surface Pro 5 will be having a new feature. Patently Mobile published a patent that Microsoft submitted containing advancements for the Surface Pen.
Instead of carrying a triple-A or button cell battery, the Surface Pen will be having a rechargeable battery. Aside from this, the Surface Pen will also have a charging dock, clearly a big upgrade from the Pro 4's magnetic stylus. The charging dock will also serve as the Surface Pen's station to avoid the user from misplacing the small device while charging.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to debut in October 2017.
