Microsoft Xbox Play Anywhere release date news: Coming in September 2016
Xbox Play Anywhere has a release date and now people will have the chance to play games seamlessly while switching between Xbox One consoles and PCs soon.
According to The Verge, Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere initiative will be out by Sept. 13 and will be available for the latest Xbox console and PCs running Windows 10 operating systems.
Aside from having a computer that runs on Windows 10, PC players will be required to have the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to enjoy Xbox Play Anywhere capability. On the other hand, console players will have to wait for the summer Xbox One update to get the new option.
As for the games, Windows corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi revealed that the new titles they will be unveiling from now on will support Xbox Play Anywhere.
In a statement published on the Windows blog, Mehdi said, "Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will support Xbox Play Anywhere and will be easily accessible in the Windows Store."
This comes as welcome news for those using both platforms. As IGN noted, purchasing a game will unlock the capacity to play it in any of the two platforms the user chooses. This means that players are essentially paying for two games for one price.
For the first game with the Xbox Play Anywhere feature, it will be the upcoming action-adventure game "ReCore" which will be released this year as well.
However, there are other big titles that are set for the Xbox Play Anywhere feature, too. One is "Gears of War 4," a third-person shooter game that is set to release in October.
Racing video game "Forza Horizon 3" will be released by the end of September and will also be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere experience.
Finally, "Halo Wars 2," which is set for a February 2017 release, is another title that Microsoft unveiled to be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere family.
