'Modern Family' season 8 cast news, spoilers: Peyton Manning guest stars as Coach Gary
In the eighth season of ABC's hit mockumentary "Modern Family," the cast will once again introduce a fresh face. The latest addition to the cast is Coach Gary who will be portrayed by retired NFL quarterback Peyton Manning.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Manning's character will be working for Gloria (Sofia Vergara) and Joe (Jeremy Maguire). Gloria will be hiring Coach Gary to teach her youngest son how to throw and catch a ball. Eventually, Gary and the mother of two will grow closer. The former will even help the latter with household chores. This will make Gloria's husband, Jay (Ed O'Neill), feel threatened. Manning's episode will premiere sometime in January.
Aside from the retired NFL quarterback, Kelsey Grammer is expected to guest star in the hit ABC sitcom as well. As previously reported, Grammer will be portraying Cam's (Eric Stonestreet) ex-boyfriend. Although the former couple met and broke things off way before Cam and his current partner Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) got together, their reunion will bring tension.
In the upcoming episode of "Modern Family" titled "Grab it," the teaser revealed that Phil (Ty Burrell) and Jay will be having a little argument. It seems like Jay will play a prank on his son-in-law, which the latter won't like.
Furthermore, the synopsis hinted that the upcoming episode might introduce the start of Cam and Mitchell's marital problems. When Cam will be involved in a play, he will not tell his partner the complete story. In a promotional photo for the episode, the lovers were seen huddled together on the floor, with surprised expressions on their face and a mop on Mitchell's side.
"Modern Family" season 8 episode 6 will air on ABC on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 8:30 p.m. EST.
