'Modern Family' season 8 episode 10 spoilers, casting news: Manny and Luke attend lavish winter dance; two NBA stars land guest roles
It's a winter wonderland in the upcoming episode of ABC's hit comedy series "Modern Family" season 8.
Titled "Snow Ball," next week's episode centers on the boys' winter dance. According to the official synopsis for episode 10, Manny (Rico Rodriguez) and Luke (Nolan Gould) attend the school's winter dance, but things become complicated due to a texting error. To support the boys, Gloria (Sofia Vergara), Claire (Julie Bowen), Mitchell (Jesse Tyler-Ferguson), and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) all volunteer at the event. Jay (Ed O'Neil) uses a thinly veiled guise to get out of it and pretends to want to spend time with Phil (Ty Burrell), but his plan suddenly backfires.
Meanwhile, Claire and Gloria try to set up Marjorie ("Saturday Night Live" star Vanessa Bayer), one of the parents in the event, with the school's principal. Upon arriving at the dance, Mitchell finds it difficult to be back in high school. He is shocked to see a lot of his characteristics in the school bully, which makes him feel that he needs a little guidance.
After next week's winter finale, "Modern Family" will be getting a dose of the NBA next year. According to reports, NBA stars Charles Barkley and DeAndre Jordan have been tapped to guest star on an upcoming episode of the award-winning comedy. The duo will star as themselves in an episode that will air around late January 2017.
As for their part in the story, Jordan and Barkley will be joining a charity basketball game that Phil has been training for all year long. It turns out that the Dunphy patriarch wants to redeem himself after a disastrous event at the game last year. When the two NBA players begin to get a little more involved, Phil attempts to not give in to the pressure.
The eighth season of "Modern Family" airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
