'Mortal Kombat X' Kombat Pack 3 release date, news, rumors: Third DLC to come after 'Injustice 2'?
As of now, NetherRealm is working on the development and promotion of the "Injustice: Gods Among Us" sequel, "Injustice 2." Fans of their other successful franchise, "Mortal Kombat," are waiting for an update on "Mortal Kombat X." Games have been speculating that the expansion will most likely come after the release of "Injustice 2."
Since "Injustice 2" is speculated to come out early 2017, some fans have been guessing that the third "Mortal Kombat X" downloadable content (DLC) will find its way to the market come June 2017. Game developers usually avoid releasing different titles together because the two products may compete with each other in the market. The expansion is most likely to come out after the hype for "Injustice 2" has died down.
As for the content of the DLC itself, "Kombat Pack 3" is expected to come with all new playable characters. Characters like Li Mei and Fujin are expected to appear, as well as classic characters like Rain, Baraka, Smoke, Jade, Sindel and Noob Saibot.
"Mortal Kombat X" mobile gamers were also treated to a new character recently when the latest update gave them the iconic horror movie character, Jason Vorhees ("Friday the 13th"). He's only available for a limited time, however, so anyone who wants to get him should start gathering souls now.
As for the future of the franchise, co-creator Ed Boon has been active within the community, always asking for anything that the fans might want from NetherRealm. Aside from the Kombat Pack DLC and "Injustice 2," he also asked if fans were ready for "Shaolin Monks 2."
"Shaolin Monks" is a platforming game which made players pick between classic "Mortal Kombat" characters Liu Kang and Kung Lao. The game came out for the PS2 back in 2005, so it's high time for a sequel.
No official release date has been announced for the third "Mortal Kombat X" DLC.
