The Moto X and the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact both have oodles of style and great specs. In a comparison, it is clear that the bigger Moto X is very similar to its smaller rival from Sony.

Design

Design is where the Moto X impresses as it has a premium aluminum frame. The phone can be customized with a variety of back panels made from rubber, plastic, wood and bamboo. As for the Xperia Z3 Compact, it comes with a plastic frame which is rounded and has glass on its front and back with nylon on its edges. The device looks very much like the Xperia Z3 and has a nice premium look and feel to it.

Display

The Xperia Z3 Compacts has a 4.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a density of 319 pixels per inch. The Moto X has a larger AMOLED screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch.

Platform

Both smartphones run the 4.4.4 KitKat operating system and can be upgraded to the latest Android operating system, the 5.0 Lollipop. The Xperia Z3 Compact comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, Quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU. As for the Moto X it also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

The Xperia Z3 Compact has a memory slot that can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage while the Moto X does not have one. In terms of RAM, both come with 2 GB.

Camera

Comparing their cameras, the Xperia Z3 Compact has a massive 20 megapixel version at its rear, while the Moto X has a 13 megapixel version.

The Xperia Z3 Compact costs $499 on Amazon while the retail price of the Moto X is pegged at $499.
