[FIXED WRONG CONTENT POSTED] Moto X (2016) release date, specs rumors: Device coming 2017 instead, leak shows design
It appears that the Motorola, which was purchased by Lenovo last year, will release a new version of the Moto X after the lineup was benched this year.
TechDroider has shared a live image of the purported Moto X 2016 (or 2017) showing a full-metal chassis with a big space in the upper middle for the camera.
There is no way of knowing if it is the next-generation Moto X although the device on the photo appear to be identical to the Moto X 2016 leaks that made their way online early this year. The all-metal design is also in line with the design of the previous iterations of the smartphone.
For now, what users can take away from this leak is that although Lenovo now owns Motorola, the Moto X lineup has not seen its demise after all.
In addition, it will not see major changes in terms of how it is put together save for some slight tweaks in the camera, which look more like they belong to a Moto Z device rather than a Moto X unit.
Nevertheless, everything else seems to be in place, albeit a bit more premium than usual. With regards to the release date of the Moto X 2016 (2017), this is a bit that is still hard to come by.
Phandroid says that with a lot of devices at their disposal, Lenovo will have to even out the releases. A specific launch date for the new Moto X might not be revealed anytime soon, but the fact that the live image shows its design show that work is well underway for the device.
With regards to the specifications and features of the Moto X 2016 (2017), there is no information about that yet. Needless to say, necessary upgrades on both on the hardware side of things (like the processor and the camera) are expected to be done on the flagship.
