The new owner of mobile phone maker Motorola, Lenovo, has recently announced the upcoming release of the new generation Moto E smartphone, the Moto E3. According to reports, the handset will look similar to the Moto G4 Play.

The entry-level handset will carry a 5-inch screen with a 720p display technology. According to a report from CNET, the device will run on a quad-core processor paired with 1 GB of RAM. It will sport an 8 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front-facing snapper.

Although Motorola and Lenovo have yet to provide all details with regard to the upcoming smartphone, tech observers suggest that it will have the capability to shoot 1080p videos. It will also be powered by a 2800mAh battery and will arrive with a pre-installed Android Marshmallow. However, there are speculations suggesting that the device may run on the latest operating system from Google, the Android 7.0 Nougat.

On the other hand, the Moto G4 carries a Snapdragon 410 chipset from Qualcomm paired with 2 GB of RAM. It has an on-board storage capacity of 16 GB; however, it is expandable using microSD. The handset will carry the same screen size as the Moto E3 at 5 inches.

Lenovo revealed that the Moto E3 will have a white or black base color and a plain back with the usual Motorola dimple. The company also claimed that the handset will sport a smudge-resistant screen to protect it from scratches.

The smartphone may not have the same specs and features as the leading handsets in the market today, but it will only cost consumers $132 to get one. The Moto G4 Play is said to be on display for $170.

Meanwhile, Either Motorola or Lenovo has yet to provide specific details with regard to the smartphone's release date. There are reports suggesting that the Moto E3 will hit the shelves later this year.
