'Mr. Robot' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Dead character returning?
Frankie Shaw was recently spotted hanging about on the set of "Mr. Robot" season 2, sparking rumors that her character Shayla will return from the grave.
"Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail has been chronicling the filming of the new episodes on his Instagram. One photo featured lead actor Rami Malek with Shaw.
Because of this photo, many are now thinking that Shaw's character will appear in "Mr. Robot" season 2. It is a mystery in what form Shayla will appear in the new season since she was killed in the first season.
It has been suggested that she will be part of a flashback or a hallucination scene of some in the mind of Malek's Elliot. After all, the hacker's state of mind has been quite unstable so it is possible he is seeing dead people.
Spoiler Alert! Details about the first season of "Mr. Robot" season 1 below.
Meanwhile, apart from Shayla's possible return in "Mr. Robot" season 2, the show can expect to focus on the aftermath of the hacking of Evil Corp engineered by the fsociety.
Although it appears that the hackers have won against the powerful group of people secretly running the world, Esmail teased that victory is still far from Elliot's grasp.
"We see in the coda with that scene between WhiteRose and Philip Price that there are larger forces at play. As always," Esmail told Esquire of more challenges coming the hackers' way in "Mr. Robot" season 2.
While the repercussions of the hacking will be illustrated in the new season, Esmail is also looking to focus on a new theme in the form of data encryption, which the world has been hearing lately due to Apple and FBI's issue on the former's iPhones being used by the shooters at San Bernardino.
At the center of all that, of course, is Elliot's struggle to understand his condition after having realized that Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) is not real and is only inside his head.
"Mr. Robot" season 2 premieres July 13 at 10 p.m. EDT on USA Network.
